What makes an individual so successful? What types of businesses and industries are they in? How did they start? Let’s delve a little shall we?

- This celebrated group is worth $9.1 trillion, up 18% since last year.
- There are 259 newcomers including the first ever cryptocurrency billionaires
- Even in such a powerful year, 121 dropped out due to falling fortunes, including all 10 Saudi Arabians previously on the list.
Who is No. 1? Jeff Bezos
How much moola does he have? A net worth of over $150 billion
What does he do? Well, he founded e-commerce giant, Amazon, from his garage in Seattle in 1994. He still owns 16% of the world’s biggest online store. He is passionate about space travel, and his other company, Blue Horizon is developing passenger-carrying space travel. He bought the Washington Post for a mere $250 million in 2013.
What are his nuggets of wisdom?
No Multitasking: “When I have dinner with friends or family, I like to be doing whatever I’m doing,” Bezos said. “I don’t like to multi-task. If I’m reading my email I want to be reading my email” with his full attention and energy.
Bezos said everyone has two options for creating their “life story.” Either you go for a life of “ease and comfort” or a life of “service and adventure.” Bezos is clear about which is the right choice: He said you’ll be prouder of living an adventurous life when you’re 80 years old.
Who is No. 2? Bill Gates

What does he do? Where have you been, under a rock? Bill Gates founded software firm Microsoft, with partner Paul Allen, way back in 1975. He has since sold or given away much of his stake in Microsoft — he owns just over 1% of shares — and invested in a mix of stocks and other assets. In 2016, Gates announced the launch of a $1 billion Breakthrough Energy investment fund with about 20 other people.
He and his wife Melinda chair the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the world’s largest private charitable foundation. That’s cool huh?
What are his nuggets of wisdom? Bill has some simple sounding methods that have contributed to his success. You must find time to think clearly and write down your ideas. You must start, and you must start NOW! Procrastination is the killer of success. Study the competition, and work at doing what they are not doing well, very well indeed. What does he do? He is one of the most successful investors of all time. Buffett runs Berkshire Hathaway, which owns more than 60 companies, including insurer Geico, battery maker Duracell and restaurant chain Dairy Queen. He’s promised to give away over 99% of his fortune. So far he’s donated $35 billion, much of it to the Gates Foundation. Awwwwww.
What are his nuggets of wisdom? Warren says you must do what you are good at, focus on the areas where you are smart. Be REALLY interested in your subject and start as soon as you can. Learn, learn and learn some more and NEVER stop! Avoid envy, jealousy, self-pity, vengeance, and extreme ideology. Cool, gotcha Warren!
Who is No. 4? Bernard Arnault & Family

What does he/they do? He’s a stylish Frenchman who overseas an empire of 70 luxury mega brands such as Louis Vuitton and Sephora. Record results at LVMH and a megadeal to buy out nearly all of Christian Dior helped boost Arnault’s fortune by $30.5 billion in one year. He is an arts patron and visionary.
What are his nuggets of wisdom? Bernault is the master of luxury branding and acquisition. He wants to know what can the brand be? How can it be improved? Does it fit with the other brands? Is it a competitor?”
Who is No. 5? Mark Zuckerberg
How much moola does he have? $61 Billion
What does he do? He is the CEO of Facebook, which he started while at Harvard in 2004, at the age of 19. He took Facebook public in May 2012 and still owns nearly 17% of the stock. Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, have pledged to give away 99% of their Facebook stake over their lifetimes.
What are his nuggets of wisdom? Have a dream and think BIG! No playing small! But you do need to start small! Believe in yourself and follow your PASSION. Be diligent, focussed and learn to take risks!
